Stitch Fix Promo Code: Get $50 OFF

I got my June Stitch Fix in! What great timing! I am on the start of my Summer Break so this was like a little "End of the Year" gift to myself!

I'm like a kid at Christmas when I see that box at my door!

My stylist sent me a pair of Liverpool Jean Capris that were so soft and comfortable.
With these, she sent some cute tops.  Here is one from my favorite Daniel Rainn: It's called the Ranelle Crochet Front Keyhole Shirt.

Next up is thais Nine Britton Frenkel Scallop Neckline Blouse.  The scalloping gives it a sweet look and this color yellow is all the rage.
Loved this too!

Another more casual top was this Pink Clover top: It's called the Daisee Button Back Detail Top. I'm all about stripes and so this one really called my name!
I enjoy Stitch Fix clothing so much because of the quality and feel of so many of their items.
This one is buttery soft.

Finally, these sneaks are SO stinking cute!  I love the stripes and light blue denim color.  They fit and feel like a dream.

Ok, so I had to make some hard decisions!  I ended up keeping the striped shirt.
I know I will get so much use out of it.

Check out the cute buttons that run along the back of the shirt.
It's all in the little details.

Stitch Fix is giving me a special code to offer my friends.
Schedule a Fix in the next 24 hours and you can get $50 credit to your Fix!

Decorating for Spring With Target Finds

It's spring time! I love how the world is coming back to life. Something about this time of year, but revitalizes me!  Thanks to Target, I can always add seasonal touches without breaking the bank! Nothing says spring like bunnies and eggs. I found this bunny for fifty percent off at ACMoore and the eggs came from Target. The basket I bought awhile ago from Hobby Lobby.

There were plenty of eggs in this set to scatter a few more places.

I dressed my mantle with this garland of  carrots.
A simple touch that added some life and a pop of spring to this area of the room.

I styled the kitchen counter with some fresh tulips from LIdl and added this target bird and a candle.

This target dishtowel hanging on my stove reminds me it is time to bake a spring treat!

This wire bird from Target hangs out by  my blooming African violet.

This open weave basket is perfect for stuffing with spring flowers.
For now, I've filled it with white buds.

I love how these simple touches brought my house to life.
How do you like to decorate for spring?
Would love to hear!

What I Wore Monday!

What I Wore: Monday
Hello Friends!  I can't even believe it is already April!  Wow, this year is flying by!
We had some lovely spring weather and temperatures this weekend but Virginia weather is fickle.
It is currently a brisk and frosty 32 degrees.
I went with a simple and warm outfit.

I threw on some black pants from JC Penny's today.
These are so practical for the classroom and slimming too.

I love these pants because absolutely anything and everything goes with them.  I added a shell from LOFT in a pretty floral design.

I picked this up last year but LOFT always has super cute shells that are perfect for layering.
I've got my eyes on this one.  LOFT does great sales so I always wait and get them when they are on clearance or 60% off.

Jean Jackets are an essential in my wardrobe!
This one is always on standby.

I love to accessorize with long necklaces.
This one is double sided!

I couldn't find it on the LOFT site anymore.
But while I was there, I spied this.
LOVE it and only $20!

I threw on some earrings.
I never spend much on earrings...I always end up losing one.
These I grabbed from the Belk clearance section.
They work so well with a denim.

Have a great week!
Check back for more outfits of the week.!

2019....Here We Go!

Can you believe another year has just begun?
How did you spend your New Years Eve?
I spent mine alone watching Netflix.  DH had already gone to bed. We haven't actually gone out to celebrate on New Years Eve for years now.
My best memories of New Years Eve was when we celebrated with kids. They would get so excited to stay up past their bedtime and watch the ball drop. We would eat junk food, drink cider out of fancy champagne glasses, wear party hats and wait for just the right moment to blow the heck out of our party blowers.  Kids make everything more fun.

Guess I should introduce myself at this point for anyone who has stumbled upon this blog and to this particular post.
My name is Doris and I am a 54 year old teacher, mom and wife.

Right now I'm going through a bit of an identity crisis.
You see, I'm a soon to be empty nester.
I know many have gone before me and will after me.
My life has revolved around my teaching and my kids for so many years now.
2019 will be a year of change.
My daughter will graduate high school this spring and begin attending college in the fall.
My son has already graduated from college, is living about an hour away and has thoughts of moving out of state.

So, the whole point of this post and this blog is to connect.
Let me tell you that exposing my feelings is no easy feat for me.
But I watched Julie and Julia last night on Netflix.  Have you watched it?
It is about a woman who is going through a crisis of her own and begins a blog about something she loves. Her blog and her connections with others pull her through.

I would love to connect with others who are going through changes in their lives.
People helping people...it's what it is all about.
But, if not, then let this blog be a place where I can post the highs and lows of this year.
2019....here we go....

Building a Teacher Wardrobe: Target Find

I'm picking up some cute new pieces to get me excited about going back to school.  I honestly feel like if I take some time to make look as best as I can, I have a better day at school.  And being over fifty, it is not always easy. Jen Jones says if you dress up, you'll teach up!
But I do make some effort. Can anyone else relate?

So I snagged this cute embroidered top from Target and it so comfortable and will go with so many bottoms that I already have.

The details are SO pretty!

Here is is with white capri pants and simple black sandals.

Denim looks great with it!

Are you back to school clothes shopping for yourself?

Feeling Fit After Fifty

I recently went to my doctor for a yearly check up. All was well and I checked out pretty good.   I was SO thankful that my50+++  body hasn't given up on me yet.  I left feeling so blessed. I know I am lucky and that many people out there are suffering with medical issues.  I want to keep on keeping on and down deep inside I know I could do a better job taking care of this bod.

Truth is, I've gotten lazy lately with workouts and less than disciplined with my eating habits.  I do a pretty good job of controlling my eating during the day, but when I get home it is another story.  I end of binging on whatever is around while I am cooking dinner.  Recipe for disaster!  So one thing my doctor did say was that I am up five pounds from last year and 15 points over on my cholesterol reading.  Yup....just taught cause and effect to my little second graders so I know I am reaping the result of my

What's a girl to do?  Maybe be a bit more disciplined?  I'm bound and determined (at least at this minute) to get this turned around.  I went digging in my picture feed for what I looked like five pounds lighter.

Check it out...I was even wearing workout clothes....

Time to get those back on!
So I'm posting here on a regular basis as a way to be accountable for my actions, namely my exercising and eating.
I've got a month until my son's college graduation and I want to be feeling and looking slimmer by then.
So here is what I ate today:

I had one Kashi blueberry waffle for breakfast with coffee.
For lunch I had a hard boiled egg, cucumbers and a handful of almonds.
Dinner will be a hamburger from the grill....no bun and salad.
I will have some sleepy time tea before bedtime instead of a sweet snack.

I have the plan...now I just need the discipline!

What I Wore this Week

I'm posting teacher outfits for myself and much as for inspiration for others.  I'm getting to the point where it is nice to keep track of how I've put clothing together.  My brain doesn't always remember!

Living in between seasons is tricky stuff! I typically dress in layers so I can take on and off clothing due to the fluctuation temperatures. I did break out the open toes shoes this week and it felt good!

The green jacket was a JC Penny find, cute striped blue and white shirt from Loft, jeans from Loft and blue and white Soludos from Nordstrom...my third spring and summer season with them.

This is a the perfect little spring dress in my favorite blue color.
The pops of flowers make it easy to layer with any color cardigan or little jacket.
I wore it to work with this light, white cardigan from Kohls.
Dress was from Marshalls and shoes from Target (many years old).

I got to wear something new this week!
This is a no sleeve shell from Loft.  It has the prettiest colors so this one is easy to match too!
I wore it with a light pink cardigan from Old Navy.  The pants are also a fairly new purchase from Dress Barn and they are the most comfortable pants ever.  Totally slip ons and they have a great weight and feel to them....LOVE!
Shoes from Target (many years old).  They are getting a bit worn and I keep thinking it is time to donate them, but then I keep reaching for them.

I guess there was a theme to the week...floral, stripes and green!
We got to wear jeans twice this week....you know that's a big YAY!
I chose this stripes light weight sweater from Loft, a green vest from Target, long necklace from Loft, jeans from Loft and nude flats from Target.

Be back next week! Hopefully with some more springy items!
